Christopher Jonko, Yvonne Slowinska
Author My name is Christopher Jonko. For most of you visiting this website that will be enough, but if you want to know more, read on. I now have a trusty assistant, Yvonne Slowinska, who has recently started helping me to run this website. She is responsible for text accuracy, layout, graphics and data input.

I was born in Białogard (Poland). After having spent a good many years in Szczecin and Warsaw, I now live in the middle of Poland in Łódź. I graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Szczecin University of Technology. I also trained to be a teacher at the University of Szczecin. At present I am working as a software engineer. In the past I was employed as a:
  • creator of computer games,
  • programmer,
  • server(s) administrator,
  • 2D graphic designer,
  • lecturer,
  • chief power engineer.
I have been photographing butterflies and moths for more than a dozen years. I bought my first digital camera, a Minolta Dimage 7i, in 2004. Later I worked with a Minolta Dimage A2 and a Canon EOS 400D. At present I am using a Canon EOS 70D. For macrophotography I use a Canon EF 100mm F2.8 L IS USM Macro fixed focus lens.

Since 2003 I have been a member of the Polish Entomological Society. In 2010, the Society honoured me with its gold award for my special contribution to its advancement and for promoting interest in butterflies and moths.

On the Milestones page you will find a brief history of this website. From the very beginning it was created and run solely by myself; in consequence, updates were not very frequent. In this new version, I have made tools available to suitably qualified persons, enabling them to edit the site online. I have also acquired an assistant, which should considerably speed up future updates.
